Elderly Couple's Home Ransacked in Stockton's Brookside Neighborhood

STOCKTON, California — Police are investigating a brazen daytime burglary in Stockton's affluent Brookside neighborhood, where an elderly couple's home was broken into and thoroughly ransacked.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, shortly after the homeowners—both retired local schoolteachers—left their residence to attend activities at a nearby senior center. Upon their return, they discovered their front door breached and the interior of their home in complete disarray, with drawers emptied, closets pillaged, and personal belongings scattered across the floor.

Brookside is a gated community known for employing private security patrols, making the incident particularly alarming for residents. The burglars made off with several valuable items, including family heirlooms, electronics, and personal documents, leaving the elderly victims deeply shaken.

"You expect to feel safe in your own home, especially in a neighborhood like this with security," one of the victims told reporters. "To come home and find everything you own tossed around and gone through is a horrible violation."

Stockton Police investigators are currently gathering security camera footage from the gated community's entry gates and neighboring homes in search of suspect vehicles or individuals. No arrests have been made, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the department's property crimes unit.
