Torrance Police K-9 Officer Tango Helps Apprehend Robbery Suspect

TORRANCE, CA — A robbery suspect is in police custody following a successful deployment of the Torrance Police Department’s K-9 unit. The arrest, which took place in Torrance, highlighted the critical role that canine officers play in maintaining public safety and resolving high-risk confrontations.

Scent Tracking and Arrest

According to authorities, the incident began when officers responded to reports of a local robbery. Upon arrival, the suspect attempted to evade law enforcement by fleeing the scene on foot, prompting police to establish a containment perimeter around the neighborhood. Recognizing the need for tracking capabilities, officers called in K-9 Officer Tango, a highly trained police service dog.

Using scent articles left behind or picked up from the suspect's last known location, Officer Tango successfully tracked the suspect through residential properties and alleyways.
