Injured Burglary Suspect Calls 911 on Himself During Tyler Car Dealership Break-In

TYLER, Texas — An attempted commercial burglary took an unexpected and highly unusual turn when a suspect was forced to call the police on himself after sustaining injuries during the break-in.

The incident occurred at a car dealership in Tyler. According to investigators, the suspect was attempting to force entry into the building when he severely injured himself. Unable to escape or complete the burglary, and in need of urgent medical attention, the suspect placed a 911 call requesting both medical assistance and police response to the scene.

Tyler Police Department officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the dealership, where they located the injured suspect. Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation. The suspect remains under police custody and faces burglary charges once he is medically cleared. Police noted that while burglaries are common, it is rare for a suspect to request their own arrest to secure medical aid.
