Arrest Made After Tyler Gas Station Robbed During Deliberate Power Outage

TYLER, Texas — A suspect is in custody following an investigation into a robbery at a local gas station that involved cutting the building's electrical power.

According to the Tyler Police Department, the suspect targeted the gas station by disabling its power source, successfully knocking out the security cameras, alarm systems, and lights. With the security measures offline, the suspect entered the business and proceeded to rob the store.

Tyler officers responded to the scene and were able to gather enough evidence to identify and locate the suspect. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the local jail. Authorities highlighted the sophistication of the crime, noting that tampering with utility lines adds additional risks and charges to the burglary offense. The suspect is currently being held pending arraignment.
