Aggravated burglary at a private home in Newtownabbey

Home invasion reported in Newtownabbey

According to an article published by Belfastlive on 7 July 2025, police are investigating an aggravated burglary that occurred in the Whitewell Road area of Newtownabbey. The incident took place on the evening of Sunday, 6 July.

Belfastlive reports that three masked men forced entry into a private residence shortly after 11.30pm. As the intruders moved toward the stairs, the male occupant confronted them and struck one of the suspects over the head with an iron. The intruders, described as wearing dark clothing, gloves, and face coverings, retreated while swinging various weapons at the resident. They subsequently fled the scene in the direction of the Antrim Road.

The occupant was transported to the hospital to receive treatment for injuries sustained to his head, finger, and forearms. Detectives are currently appealing for witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the PSNI, quoting reference number 1643 of 06/07/25.
