Akron Police Hunt Two Armed Robbery Suspects Following PNC Bank Heist

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department has launched an intensive investigation following an armed bank robbery at the PNC Bank located on East Wilbeth Road. The incident, which occurred during normal business hours, involved two male suspects who entered the building displaying firearms.

Eyewitnesses reported that the suspects, both wearing dark clothing and masks to conceal their identities, brandished handguns and demanded cash from the bank tellers. The employees complied with the demands to ensure the safety of customers present inside the lobby. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of currency, the suspects quickly exited the building and fled the scene on foot, potentially transitioning to a waiting vehicle nearby.

Detectives have collected surveillance footage from the bank's internal cameras as well as surrounding traffic and business cameras. A perimeter search was established immediately after the call, but no suspects have been apprehended yet. Authorities urge anyone who might have witnessed suspicious individuals or vehicles in the vicinity of East Wilbeth Road to contact the Akron Police Department's Detective Bureau.
