Armed Burglars Shoot Open Entrance at South Hill Mall in Puyallup, Rob Jewelry Kiosk

PUYALLUP, Wash. — Police are investigating a brazen smash-and-grab burglary at the South Hill Mall in Puyallup, where thieves shot their way into the building before targeting a jewelry kiosk.

The break-in occurred in the early morning hours of February 11, 2025. According to the Puyallup Police Department, a group of masked suspects arrived at one of the mall's main entrances. Instead of using traditional burglary tools, the suspects used firearms to shoot out the glass doors, creating a large opening to gain entry. Once inside the mall, the crew rushed directly to a central jewelry kiosk.

The thieves broke the glass display cases, snatching an undisclosed amount of high-end jewelry and watches before fleeing the scene in a waiting vehicle. Puyallup police officers arrived minutes after the alarm was triggered, but the suspects had already escaped. Fortunately, no security staff or employees were injured during the incident. Police are analyzing shell casings found at the entrance and reviewing extensive mall security footage to trace the suspects' escape route and identify the vehicle used in the getaway.
