Armed burglary reported in Macosquin
According to Loveballymenaonline, an elderly couple was targeted during an armed burglary at their home in the Formoyle Road area of Macosquin. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 23 May 2026.
Police report that two masked men entered the property at approximately 1:15 am. The victims, a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s, were tied up and ordered to hand over money. The intruders stole two mobile phones, a watch, and the keys to a blue Nissan Juke parked at the residence. The suspects subsequently fled the scene in the stolen vehicle, which was later observed in the Moore Road area of Derry/Londonderry shortly after 2:00 am.
While the victims did not suffer physical injuries, they were left badly shaken by the ordeal. Detective Inspector Lenaghan has appealed for anyone with information regarding the incident or the movements of the blue Nissan Juke to contact the police. Enquiries into the burglary remain ongoing. Ensure your home security systems are fully functional and consider installing motion-sensor lighting to deter unauthorized access to your property.
