Armed Intruder Charged After Arlington Heights Chestnut Home Invasion and Hostage Rescue

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A peaceful Arlington Heights community was shattered when an armed intruder entered a residence on the 800 block of North Chestnut Avenue, resulting in gunfire and a hourslong police standoff. Tactical officers eventually succeeded in rescuing two residents and taking the suspect into custody.

The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Alex Pacino. According to police reports, Pacino entered the home armed and held the occupants inside. During the subsequent standoff, shots were fired, but tactical units managed to rescue the hostages unharmed. Pacino was arrested and faces severe felony charges, including armed home invasion, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and unlawful restraint.
