Armed robbers target two Chicago liquor stores in twenty-minute spree

CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago police are searching for suspects after a pair of liquor stores were targeted in armed robberies within a brief 20-minute window on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

The first robbery occurred on the city's South Side, where armed individuals entered a retail establishment, threatened employees with handguns, and demanded cash from the registers. Within twenty minutes, a second liquor store in a neighboring area was targeted in a nearly identical fashion. Witnesses reported that the suspects showed weapons and filled bags with cash and products before fleeing in a waiting vehicle.

Authorities believe the two incidents are linked due to the close proximity in timing, matching suspect descriptions, and the method of operation.
