According to an article published on 30 January 2026 by Examinerlive, Cleveland Police have arrested a 41-year-old man following a suspected armed robbery at a Shell petrol station in Middlesbrough. The incident occurred shortly after 4.15am on Friday at the garage located at the crossroads of Ladgate Lane and Marton Road.
Examinerlive reports that a man wielding a weapon intimidated a member of staff before fleeing the premises. No injuries were sustained during the event. Following the incident, officers attended an address in Coulby Newham, where they apprehended the suspect and recovered a BB gun.
The individual remains in custody and is facing questioning regarding several charges, including robbery, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, affray, as well as drink and drug-driving offences. Middlesbrough CID is continuing the investigation into the matter. A police presence was maintained at the forecourt throughout the morning following the report.
