Armed robbery at a petrol station in Whitburn
According to an article published on 19 February 2026, the Scotsman reports that a petrol station in Whitburn, West Lothian, was targeted in an armed robbery. The incident occurred at the Esso petrol station on Baillie Street at approximately 5.50am on Wednesday, 18 February.
According to the Scotsman, a man entered the premises and threatened a staff member with a bladed weapon before stealing a three-figure sum of cash. The staff member was not injured during the encounter. The suspect is described as white, of slim build, and was wearing blue joggers, a blue and orange jacket, and trainers.
Detective Constable Chris Watson has appealed for anyone with information, dash-cam footage, or private CCTV from the area to contact Police Scotland, quoting incident number 0444 of 18 February 2026. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers.
Business owners are encouraged to review their security protocols and ensure that staff are trained on safety procedures during emergency situations.
