Armed robbery at a shop in Armadale

According to an article published on 27 June 2025 by the Scotsman, a man armed with a large meat cleaver robbed a Premier convenience store in Armadale, West Lothian. The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, 26 June 2025, at the Lower Bathville location.

The Scotsman reports that a man wearing a balaclava and a grey tracksuit entered the shop at approximately 8.15pm. CCTV footage captured the suspect moving behind the counter, where he shoved the store assistant and demanded the contents of the till. The intruder successfully stole approximately £2,000 in cash before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Police Scotland confirmed that officers attended the premises and that forensic investigations were conducted. Enquiries are currently ongoing to locate the suspect, who was reportedly seen observing the store from a nearby bus stop prior to the robbery. Business owners are encouraged to ensure that their CCTV systems are well-maintained and clearly visible to act as a deterrent against potential intruders.
