Essexlive reports that the suspect demanded staff open the till before fleeing the scene. Taser-trained officers were deployed to the area, where they gathered a description of the individual. Police were able to detain a suspect less than 20 minutes after the initial report. A knife believed to have been used in the incident was recovered by officers at the scene.

A 32-year-old man from Clacton has been taken into custody for questioning. Inspector Mark Tyler stated that the force takes such robberies, particularly those involving weapons, very seriously, noting the significant impact these crimes have on staff in their workplaces.
