Armed robbery at Market Cross Jewellers in Guisborough
According to an article published on 15 March 2026 by Chroniclelive, a 29-year-old man was arrested following an armed robbery at Market Cross Jewellers on Westgate in Guisborough. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, 14 March.
Chroniclelive reports that the suspect smashed through the shop window using a hammer before grabbing handfuls of gold. The robbery left staff members terrified. Following the incident, several members of the public gave chase and successfully detained the individual until police arrived at the scene.
Temporary Detective Sergeant Brayfield of Redcar CID has publicly thanked those who intervened. Authorities are currently appealing for any witnesses or individuals in possession of dashcam, mobile phone, or CCTV footage to contact the police at 101, quoting reference SE26048090.
