Armed robbery at Rownhams Services in Southampton

According to an article published on 18 December 2025, four masked men armed with crowbars, sledgehammers, an angle grinder, and a chainsaw targeted Rownhams Services off the M27 in Southampton. ITV reports that the group arrived at the eastbound service station at 2:51am on Monday, 15 December.

The suspects threatened three staff members, ordering them into the men’s toilets before forcing open two ATMs and a till. After disabling a CCTV camera with a crowbar and using a fire extinguisher on an ATM, the group fled the scene at 3:15am with a substantial amount of cash. Detective Constable Bea Straker stated that the four men were wearing face coverings and dark clothing. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and conducting forensic examinations. Authorities are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area between 2:30am and 3:30am on 15 December to contact them via 101, quoting reference 44250563275.
