Armed Suspect Arrested After Knife-Wielding Home Invasion in Northwest Lincoln

LINCOLN, Nebraska — A northwest Lincoln neighborhood was the scene of a tense police response on September 14, 2025, after an armed man allegedly forced his way into a local residence while brandishing a knife. The Lincoln Police Department confirmed that the suspect was apprehended inside the home shortly after the homeowners managed to flee and contact emergency services.

The incident began around 10:30 p.m. when emergency dispatchers received a 911 call from residents of a home located near Northwest 48th Street. The callers reported that an unknown male, armed with a large knife, was attempting to break through their back sliding glass door. Before officers arrived, the suspect successfully breached the door and entered the living room.

Residents Escape Unharmed

Following the entry, the occupants of the home were able to escape through the front exit as the suspect entered. They waited in a neighbor’s yard while maintaining contact with dispatchers. Officers arrived on the scene within minutes, surrounded the home, and ordered the suspect to surrender. When the suspect refused to comply, a K-9 unit and tactical officers entered the residence and took him into custody without further incident.

The suspect, identified as a 34-year-old Lincoln resident, was booked into the Lancaster County Jail. He faces several felony charges, including:

• Burglary while armed with a deadly weapon
• First-degree criminal trespass
• Terroristic threats
• Use of a weapon to commit a felony

“This was an incredibly dangerous situation that could have ended in tragedy,” said Lincoln Police Captain Robert Miller. “The residents did exactly the right thing by immediately evacuating and calling 911 rather than confronting the armed intruder.”

Authorities have not yet established a motive for the break-in, and it remains unclear whether the suspect had any connection to the victims. The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behavior in the area prior to the break-in to contact investigators.
