Armed Suspect Steals $10,000 Worth of Pokémon Cards in Gwinnett Burglary
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County police officers are investigating a high-value burglary that targeted a local specialty hobby store, where an armed suspect stole an estimated $10,000 worth of collectible Pokémon trading cards.
According to police reports, the suspect entered the premises and brandished a weapon before focusing exclusively on rare and valuable trading card binder cases and booster packs. The suspect managed to secure a significant quantity of highly sought-after collectible cards, which are valued at approximately $10,000 on the secondary market, before fleeing the scene.
Valuable Collectibles Targeted
Trading cards have experienced a major surge in value over recent years, making specialty shops and collectors prime targets for thieves. Gwinnett investigators are currently reviewing security footage and working with regional card dealers to alert them of the stolen inventory in case the suspect attempts to liquidate the cards.
