Arrest Made After Early Morning Burglary at Dorchester Sainsbury’s Local

An arrest has been made following an early morning burglary at the Sainsbury’s Local store on Bridport Road in Dorchester, Dorset. The incident, which took place in the early hours of Monday, December 29, 2025, resulted in damage to the shopfront and the theft of several retail items.

Police were alerted to the break-in after the store’s alarm system was triggered. Officers quickly arrived at the scene and launched a search of the immediate area. A suspect was located nearby shortly after and arrested on suspicion of burglary.

A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s confirmed that the store was temporarily closed to allow police to conduct their forensic investigations and for cleanup operations to take place, but has since reopened to customers. Dorset Police are continuing their enquiries and have asked anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the vicinity to get in contact.
