Arrests Made and Suspects Charged in Violent Salem Convenience Store Robberies

SALEM, Oregon — Law enforcement authorities have made significant progress in solving a series of armed robberies targeting local convenience stores in Salem, which included a terrifying shooting incident directed at a store clerk.

According to police reports, a robbery at a Salem convenience store, including a 7-Eleven location, escalated when a suspect discharged a firearm at the clerk. Although the clerk was not injured, the violence of the crime prompted an intensive police response. Investigators released surveillance photographs of the suspect to the public to assist in identification.

The investigation has resulted in multiple arrests. A teenager was arrested and identified as the third suspect in one of the coordinated robberies. Additionally, a Monmouth man has been formally accused and charged with attempted murder and robbery for shooting at the store clerk. Authorities state that these arrests are the result of collaboration between the Salem Police Department and surrounding jurisdictions to curb retail violence.
