Robbery reported on Riverside Way

According to an article published on 19 May 2026 by Leicestermercury, a man was assaulted with a crowbar during a robbery in a Leicester park. The incident occurred on a canal towpath in Riverside Way, near the Ellis Meadows footbridge, between 12.50pm and 1.10pm on Tuesday, May 5.

Leicestermercury reports that the victim was riding his bike when he was struck, causing him to fall. Two suspects then stole the bicycle. Police have since arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection with the incident, and he has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Authorities are currently attempting to locate the victim to check on his wellbeing and have urged him to come forward. The victim is described as an Asian man wearing blue trousers, a high-vis vest, and a woollen jacket. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the police, quoting crime reference number 26*258327.
