ATF and Police Investigate Major Gun Theft After Car Rams Overland Park Pawn Shop

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas — Federal agents and local police have launched a joint investigation after thieves crashed a stolen vehicle into an Overland Park pawn shop, stealing dozens of firearms. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has joined the search for the suspects and is offering a significant financial reward for information.

According to investigators, the incident occurred in the early morning hours when suspects utilized a stolen passenger car to ram through the storefront of the Overland Park Pawn Shop. The crash caused extensive structural damage, allowing the burglars quick entry into the business. Once inside, the suspects shattered display cases and made off with approximately 32 firearms before fleeing in a secondary getaway vehicle.

Surveillance video captured the dramatic moments of the break-in, showing multiple masked individuals loading weapons into bags. The ATF, in conjunction with the Overland Park Police Department, has released parts of the surveillance footage in hopes that the public can help identify the culprits.

Because stolen firearms present a severe threat to public safety and are frequently used in subsequent violent crimes, federal authorities are prioritizing the case. The ATF is offering a $10,000 reward for any tips that lead to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspects, as well as the recovery of the stolen firearms.
