Atlanta Liquor Stores Targeted in Destructive Smash-and-Grab and Wall-Breach Heists

ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta businesses are on high alert following a string of daring commercial burglaries, including a smash-and-grab heist at a local liquor store that resulted in the theft of thousands of dollars in high-end alcohol, followed by a separate wall-breach heist resulting in a massive cash theft.

In the first incident, which took place in late September, thieves backed a vehicle directly through the storefront of a liquor store, bypassing security bars and shattering the glass facade. The suspects quickly loaded approximately $12,000 worth of premium alcohol into the vehicle before speeding away. Atlanta police responded to the scene, collecting surveillance footage and forensic evidence in an attempt to identify the suspect vehicle and those involved.

Weeks later in mid-October, another business break-in shook the area when thieves chose a different entry method. Instead of smashing through the front doors, the perpetrators cut or smashed a large hole through the side wall of an Atlanta liquor store. Once inside, the burglars bypassed safe security measures and walked away with $28,000 in cash. Investigators are looking into whether these incidents are connected to an organized commercial burglary ring operating within the metro area.
