According to an article published by Stokesentinel on 9 January 2026, a Co-op supermarket in Kidsgrove was targeted in a burglary involving heavy machinery. Staffordshire Police were called to the Cedar Avenue branch at 3am following reports that an ATM had been ripped from the front of the building using a stolen JCB telehandler.

The JCB was abandoned at the location and has since been seized by officers. A structural engineer was requested to assess the damage to the premises, which remains temporarily closed.
