Attempted robbery at Queens Street store

According to an article published by Northernirelandworld on 11 April 2025, an attempted armed robbery occurred at a shop in the Queen Street area of Lurgan. On Tuesday, 8 April, a male suspect entered the premises and presented a note to a staff member claiming he was armed with a knife and demanding cash from the till.

Northernirelandworld reports that the shop worker, 27-year-old Debbie Hoey, responded by retrieving a baseball bat kept behind the counter for protection. CCTV footage captured the employee confronting the suspect, who subsequently fled the shop empty-handed. Following the incident, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed that a 16-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of related offences and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries. Sergeant Robinson has appealed for anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the police quoting reference number 629 08/04/25.
