Attempted ATM Theft at Lakeview Toons Bar & Grill on Southport Avenue

Thieves targeted Toons Bar & Grill on Southport Avenue in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood early Monday morning, attempting to steal the establishment's ATM. The owner of the popular neighborhood bar has shared security camera footage of the incident in hopes of identifying the culprits.

The video shows the suspects attempting to dislodge and remove the ATM from the premises. Despite causing property damage to the interior and entrance of the bar, the thieves were unsuccessful in their attempt to carry away the cash machine and fled empty-handed.

Chicago police are investigating the attempted theft and are using the shared video footage to help track down the suspects. The owner expressed relief that the ATM was not stolen but remains frustrated by the damage and the threat to local businesses.
