Attempted burglary at a Northallerton farm
Safeguarding report follows attempted farm burglary
According to an article published by the Yorkshirepost on 28 January 2026, North Yorkshire Police are facing questions regarding their response to an attempted burglary at a farm in Northallerton. On November 17 of last year, officers were called to the property after the family reported evidence of an individual attempting to gain access to their premises late in the evening.
While the attempted burglary remains unresolved with no suspect identified, the attending officer submitted a public protection notice (PPN) following the visit. According to the Yorkshirepost, the officer noted concerns regarding the cleanliness of the home and the living conditions of the children present. The family subsequently contacted their local MP, Kevin Hollinrake, who has requested an internal review of the incident, questioning the proportionality of the police response.
Assistant Chief Constable Catherine Clarke defended the officer's actions, stating that the PPN was filed due to professional concerns regarding health implications for the children, while noting that the officer also observed the children appeared well cared for.
Business owners are encouraged to maintain robust security measures and report any suspicious activity on their property to the authorities immediately.
