According to an article published by Countypress on 25 January 2026, police were called to a shop on Ash Road in the Pan area of Newport following an attempted burglary. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed that officers were alerted shortly after 10:30pm on Saturday, 24 January, following reports that the property was being targeted.

Countypress reports that residents observed a police presence at the scene after a ground-floor window was damaged. Despite the glass being shattered, police have confirmed that no entry was gained to the premises. At this stage, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information to contact the police via 101, or 999 in an emergency.

Business owners are advised to ensure that all ground-floor windows and entry points are properly secured and monitored with appropriate alarm systems.
