Attempted Burglary In San Ramon Leads To High-Speed Chase

SAN RAMON, California — An attempted commercial burglary during the early hours of Monday morning triggered a high-speed police pursuit that stretched across county lines. Officers with the San Ramon Police Department responded to a silent alarm at a local business, arriving just as the suspects were fleeing the premises in a high-powered sedan.

When officers attempted a traffic stop, the suspects accelerated, initiating a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 680. The chase reached speeds exceeding 100 mph, with the suspect vehicle driving erratically and weaving through light morning traffic. Due to safety concerns, officers maintained a strategic distance while coordinate-tracking the vehicle with the help of regional air support.

The pursuit came to an abrupt end when the suspect vehicle lost control and crashed into a barrier. Multiple occupants immediately abandoned the vehicle, fleeing into a nearby wooded area on foot. Law enforcement established a secure perimeter, utilizing K-9 units and helicopters to search the area, although no suspects were immediately located.

Investigators recovered burglary tools and evidence from the abandoned vehicle, which was determined to have been reported stolen out of Oakland. The San Ramon Police Department is continuing to work with neighboring agencies to identify the suspects through forensic evidence recovered from the scene.
