Attempted robbery at a Birmingham takeaway

According to an article published on 23 October 2024, staff at a fish and chip shop in Sparkbrook, Birmingham, successfully intervened during an attempted robbery. Miltonkeynes reports that a man entered the premises and demanded cash from the till while brandishing a large knife.

The owner, Zafar Iqbal, and his staff confronted the individual, wrestling him to the ground behind the counter. The team held the suspect for 13 minutes until officers from the West Midlands Police arrived at the scene. According to Miltonkeynes, the incident occurred on Friday, 11 October, at approximately 5pm. The suspect was subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery.
