Auburn Man Charged in Violent Seattle Home Invasion Posing as Postal Worker
SEATTLE, WA — Prosecutors have filed criminal charges against an Auburn man accused of posing as a United States Postal Service worker to gain entry and execute a violent home invasion at a Seattle residence.
According to court documents, the suspect wore clothing resembling a postal uniform and carried packages to the victim's front door. When the resident opened the door, the suspect forced his way inside, assaulting the homeowner and demanding valuables. The victim suffered injuries during the physical struggle but managed to call for help, forcing the suspect to flee.
Following a coordinated investigation, law enforcement tracked the suspect to Auburn, where he was apprehended without incident. Investigators recovered evidence connecting him to the crime, including the replica delivery items and clothing used during the home invasion.
The suspect faces charges of first-degree burglary, robbery, and assault. Prosecutors have requested high bail, citing the violent nature of the offense and the deceptive tactics employed to target the homeowner.
Local law enforcement officials have advised residents to verify the identity of any delivery worker or service provider before opening the door, especially if they are not expecting a delivery.
