Auburn Man Charged with Attempted Robbery After Threatening Victims with Knife
AUBURN, AL โ A local resident is facing serious felony charges after an alleged domestic dispute escalated into an attempted armed robbery involving a knife in the early hours of March 15, 2025.
According to official reports, the Auburn Police Department responded to an active emergency call regarding a robbery in progress at a residence on Clark Street at approximately 4:00 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, responding officers determined that a domestic dispute had occurred inside the home, during which the suspect, identified as Zackary Harvey, allegedly attempted to steal a purse belonging to one of the occupants.
Confrontation and Flight
Investigators state that during the physical altercation, Harvey brandished a knife and threatened the victims. A physical struggle ensued as the victims attempted to defend themselves and prevent the theft. Despite the violent confrontation, Harvey was unable to secure the purse. He fled the residence on foot prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
Officers initiated a search of the surrounding area and successfully located Harvey a short time later. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Following his arrest, Harvey was processed and charged with the following offenses:
- Attempted Robbery in the First Degree (Class C Felony)
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Felony)
- Menacing in the Second Degree (Misdemeanor)
The investigation remains ongoing, and Harvey is currently being held pending arraignment in local court. Authorities have confirmed that while the victims were shaken by the encounter, no serious physical injuries requiring hospitalization were reported.
