Aurora Police Ram Stolen Patrol Car to Prevent Burglary Suspect's Escape
AURORA, Colorado — A burglary suspect's attempt to escape in a stolen police cruiser was thwarted when Aurora police officers deliberately rammed the vehicle to disable it, officials said.
Stolen Cruiser and Tactical Intervention
The incident began when officers responded to a burglary call. During the course of the investigation, the suspect managed to gain access to an unattended police patrol vehicle and attempted to drive away. Recognizing the immediate danger posed by a fleeing suspect in a marked police car, responding officers performed a tactical vehicle intervention, crashing into the cruiser to halt its progress.
Suspect Apprehended Following Collision
The collision successfully disabled the stolen patrol vehicle, preventing a high-speed pursuit through residential neighborhoods. The suspect was immediately extracted from the vehicle and taken into custody. Both the suspect and the involved officers were evaluated for minor injuries. The suspect faces multiple charges, including burglary, grand theft auto, and resisting arrest.
