Baltimore Officer Wounded in Hostage Situation Near Local Synagogue Following Burglary

BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore police officer has sustained injuries after responding to a burglary that rapidly transformed into a dangerous hostage situation in close proximity to a neighborhood synagogue.

Law enforcement arrived on the scene following reports of a break-in. Upon arrival, officers encountered suspects who retreated and took hostages, barricading themselves nearby. The situation quickly escalated into an armed standoff, during which gunfire was exchanged.

One responding officer was struck and wounded. Medics transported the officer to a local hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
