Bartlett Woman and Four Teens Charged in $4,000 Naperville Vape Shop Robbery

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Prosecutors have announced charges against a Bartlett woman and four teenagers in connection with a smash-and-grab style robbery at a Naperville vape shop, where approximately $4,000 worth of merchandise was stolen.

The incident occurred on January 12, 2024. According to investigators, the group entered the vape shop and quickly began filling bags with various retail items, including electronic cigarettes, cartridges, and other merchandise. The suspects then fled the scene in a waiting vehicle before police arrived.

Naperville police officers, alerted by a silent alarm and witness descriptions, spotted the getaway vehicle matching the broadcasted description. Officers initiated a pursuit and were able to stop the vehicle and apprehend all five suspects just 40 minutes after the robbery occurred. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded the stolen merchandise, valued at roughly $4,000.

The adult suspect has been identified as a woman from Bartlett, Illinois, who is facing charges of retail theft and contributing to the delinquency of minors. The four juveniles, all teenagers, are facing charges in juvenile court related to commercial burglary and retail theft. Prosecutors emphasized the swift response of local law enforcement in preventing the suspects from escaping the area.
