Belfast Asian Supermarket Break-in: Staff Member Accused of Stealing £10k
A staff member is facing charges after allegedly breaking into a Belfast Asian supermarket and stealing approximately £10,000, of which over £4,150 remains unaccounted for.
The theft, which occurred at a well-known supermarket in Belfast, came to light after management noticed discrepancies and evidence of a break-in outside normal working hours. An internal audit and police investigation pointed to an employee who had keys or unauthorized access to the premises during the night.
According to reports presented in court, the suspect is accused of disabling security measures or using their position to access the store's safe and registers. Although police recovered a portion of the stolen funds during their initial arrests and searches, a significant sum of approximately £4,150 is still missing.
The accused has appeared before Belfast Magistrates' Court facing charges of burglary and theft. The defense team has requested bail, while the prosecution continues to gather evidence, including surveillance footage from inside the supermarket and financial records.
