Bloomington Police seek public’s help to solve east side armed robbery

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana — Detectives with the Bloomington Police Department are seeking help from the public to identify a suspect involved in an armed robbery on the city’s east side.

The robbery took place on the afternoon of Monday, March 23, 2026, at a retail business in the commercial district on East Third Street. According to investigators, an unidentified individual entered the store, approached the counter, and displayed a handgun. The suspect demanded that the cashier hand over cash from the register.

After receiving the money, the suspect fled the store on foot, heading east. Police officers arrived on the scene within minutes and established a perimeter, but the suspect was able to evade capture. No employees or customers were injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a male standing approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, black sneakers, and a blue medical face mask.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance camera footage from nearby businesses and traffic intersections. "We are asking residents and business owners in the area to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity or individuals matching this description between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.," the department stated in a public appeal.
