Bond Paperwork Left in Getaway Car Identifies Houston ATM Robbery Suspect
HOUSTON, Texas โ A critical piece of evidence left behind at a crime scene led the Houston Police Department to identify and arrest a suspect in a violent ATM robbery. On May 28, 2025, an ATM technician was ambushed and assaulted by multiple suspects while servicing a machine in the 8200 block of Broadway. The suspects stole a cash cassette containing a significant sum of money before fleeing in a maroon sedan.
The getaway vehicle was abandoned shortly after the heist. Upon searching the vehicle and discarded clothing, investigators discovered bond condition paperwork bearing the name of Seth Daquan Coles-Body. Crime Stoppers of Houston and local police noted that such highly specific documentation left by a suspect was extremely rare and provided a direct path to his identification.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the incident was part of a larger, multi-state ATM robbery ring. Coles-Body and his accomplices disabled ATMs using glue or caulk to force service calls, then ambushed arriving technicians. Coles-Body eventually pleaded guilty to multiple counts of bank robbery and was sentenced in April 2026 to 10 years in federal prison.
