Break-ins at West Hollywood ice cream parlor, L.A. nail salon likely related: LAPD

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department are investigating a series of commercial burglaries, including a break-in at a West Hollywood ice cream parlor and a nail salon in Los Angeles, which they believe are likely linked.

The first incident occurred early in the morning when suspect(s) forced entry into the popular ice cream parlor by smashing the glass front door. Within hours, a second break-in occurred at a nail salon just a few miles away. In both cases, the culprits targeted cash registers, safes, and portable electronics, escaping in a vehicle parked nearby before police arrived.

Consistent Modus Operandi

Investigators noted that the methods used to enter the businesses and the speed of the burglaries suggest they were committed by the same individuals. Surveillance footage from both sites captured similar descriptions of the suspects, who were masked and wearing dark hoodies to conceal their identities.

"We are looking at security footage from both locations and surrounding businesses," an LAPD spokesperson said. "The proximity of the crimes and the identical entry methods strongly point to a coordinated effort by a single burglary crew targeting small retail shops in the area."

The consecutive break-ins have raised alarms among business owners in the West Hollywood and Los Angeles border areas.
