Residential burglary arrest in Hucknall
According to an article published by Nottinghampost on 27 March 2026, a 58-year-old man has been sentenced to 876 days in prison for a series of offences in Hucknall. Carl Thomas, of Montague Road, was apprehended by police at a property in Rufford Close after officers discovered him hiding beneath a pile of clothes in a bedroom.
Nottinghampost reports that the arrest followed investigations into a burglary at a private home on 3 October, where a handbag was stolen. CCTV footage later captured Thomas attempting to use a bankcard taken from the bag. Additionally, he was linked to an attempted break-in at a garage on 14 September and another attempted burglary on 30 October.
Thomas pleaded guilty to burglary, attempted burglary, and fraud by false representation at Nottingham Crown Court. Detective Sergeant Adam Penn noted that despite the suspect's attempt to evade capture, officers successfully located him and secured charges for the series of crimes. Thomas was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on 20 March.
