Three businesses targeted in Bacup crime spree

According to an article published on 2 March 2026 by Lancslive, a burglar has been jailed for 24 weeks after targeting three shops in a single night. Samuel O’Neil, 31, pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary with intent to steal following incidents in Bacup and Stacksteads.

Lancslive reports that the spree began at approximately 5am on May 12 last year, when two men used a hammer to smash a window at Ashton’s Fish and Chips on Newchurch Road. The pair fled with a till and a tips jar. Their getaway vehicle, a BMW, was later discovered abandoned on Fernhill Road after colliding with a lamp post, with the stolen items found inside.
