Burglars Target ATMs in West Side Commercial Spree Near Humboldt Park

CHICAGO — Chicago police are seeking the public's help to identify a group of burglars who targeted automated teller machines (ATMs) at several West Side businesses near Humboldt Park early Saturday morning.

According to police reports, the break-ins occurred between 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. at retail stores and service stations in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. In each instance, the suspects forced entry through front doors or windows and attempted to pry open the ATM cash compartments.

Surveillance footage obtained from one of the locations shows multiple individuals dressed in dark clothing and masks using crowbars and other tools in an attempt to breach the machines. Despite causing significant damage to the property, the offenders were unsuccessful in retrieving cash from the ATMs in several of the targeted shops before fleeing in a dark sedan.

No injuries were reported during the incident. Area Four Detectives are currently investigating the break-ins and are asking anyone with relevant information or video footage of the area to contact the Chicago Police Department.
