Burglars Target Springfield Restaurant in Failed ATM Theft, Causing Drive-Thru Damage

SPRINGFIELD, Illinois — Local authorities are investigating an early morning break-in at a popular Springfield restaurant, where suspects caused significant structural damage in a failed attempt to steal an automated teller machine (ATM).

According to police reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday morning, April 11, 2025. The burglars targeted the restaurant's drive-thru area, inflicting substantial damage to the exterior structure as they attempted to dislodge and remove the ATM. Despite the destructive efforts, the perpetrators were ultimately unsuccessful in securing the machine or its cash contents, fleeing the scene before law enforcement arrived.

Property damage to the establishment is reported to be extensive, particularly around the drive-thru window and lane.
