Violent home invasion in Edinburgh

According to an article published by Stv on 25 February 2025, a 23-year-old man, Bradley Shand, has been found guilty of a violent burglary and sexual assault at a private home in the Murrayfield area of Edinburgh. The incident occurred on 9 January 2023.

Stv reports that the perpetrator gained entry to the property by kicking through a French door while the 61-year-old resident was watching television. Following the assault, the individual committed a further offence in the Corstorphine area of the city, where he attempted to rob a couple of their car keys by smashing a window with garden ornaments.

The High Court heard that the offender was subject to three court bail orders at the time of the incident. Following a unanimous jury verdict, the defendant has been placed on the sex offenders’ register and remains in custody awaiting sentencing. The victim reported significant lasting trauma following the intrusion into her home.
