According to an article published by Edp24 on 30 April 2026, a burglary suspect has appeared in court following an incident at a private home in the village of Langley. Trevor Perkins, 54, of Norwich Road, Chedgrave, faces charges related to a break-in that occurred on March 31. Edp24 reports that the 91-year-old householder was allegedly struck with a torch after investigating noises at the back door of their Forge Road property. The victim sustained serious injuries during the encounter, and his partner was also reportedly assaulted.
In addition to these charges, Mr. Perkins is accused of breaking into sheds at a nearby farm and a separate burglary involving the theft of a gold clock from an outbuilding between March 16 and 17. He also faces an allegation of criminal damage to a CCTV camera. Mr. Perkins has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The case has been transferred to Norwich Crown Court, with a trial preparation hearing scheduled for May 28. The defendant has been released on bail with conditions, including a night-time curfew.
