Shropshirestar reports that Ben Marshall, 35, pleaded guilty to charges of burglary with intent to cause damage and damaging property at Telford Magistrates Court. The court heard that Marshall smashed a glass panel on the front door to gain entry before damaging various items, including an antique cash register, stock, and the shop's CCTV system. The total cost of the damage, including loss of earnings during a two-day closure, was valued at £7,450.

Marshall was sentenced to a 12-month community order, which includes 120 hours of unpaid work, an alcohol treatment requirement, and rehabilitation activity days. He was also ordered to pay £1,500 in compensation.

Business owners are encouraged to ensure that their premises are equipped with reinforced glass and monitored alarm systems to deter unauthorized entry.
