Business burglaries in Bacup
According to an article published on 8 March 2026 by Men, a man has been jailed following a series of burglaries targeting commercial premises in Bacup and Stacksteads. Samuel O'Neil, 31, of Rochdale, pleaded guilty to three charges of burglary with intent to steal and was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison.
According to Men, the incident at Ashton's Fish and Chips on Newchurch Road occurred on 12 May of last year. CCTV footage captured two men using a hammer to smash a window before stealing a till and a tips jar. The items were later recovered from a BMW that had been abandoned following a collision. Further burglaries were reported at the No.47 Skin Clinic and the Venice Star restaurant, both located on Market Street in Bacup, where cash and other items were taken.
Lancashire Police conducted an investigation into the spree, leading to the arrest of O'Neil. PC Tom Schofield noted that these offences caused significant damage and distress to local business owners. Business owners are encouraged to ensure that their premises are equipped with robust security measures and alarm systems to deter unauthorized access.
