According to an article published on 16 April 2025 by Walesonline, a man broke into the Zero Plus chip shop located on Cowbridge Road East in Canton, Cardiff. The incident occurred on 13 February 2024 at approximately 5:55 am.
Walesonline reports that police discovered the intruder, 38-year-old Craig Scott, crouching behind the counter. He had gained entry through an unlocked bathroom window. Although no items were stolen, the defendant had removed several packs of chicken curry and chicken nuggets from the fridge. The break-in was reported to the authorities by a resident living in the flat above the business.
During the court hearing, it was noted that the defendant had previously been sentenced to a 22-month jail term for a separate burglary at the same address. The court imposed a concurrent four-week sentence for the chip shop incident, noting that the defendant had been struggling with alcoholism at the time of the offence. He is currently working with addiction support services.
