Criminal gang targets Beverley Co-op

According to an article published on 8 September 2024 by Hulllive, a professional gang targeted a Co-operative store in Lincoln Way, Beverley, in a raid involving significant planning. During the incident, which occurred on October 18, 2019, intruders used a 4x4 vehicle to smash a window before utilizing weapons, including a hammer and a grinder, to attack a cash machine.

Hulllive reports that police were alerted to the scene at approximately 12:09 a.m. after alarms were activated. Officers observed a black Jeep Cherokee and a black Audi fleeing the area. One of the participants, Lee Hannath, 45, was later identified through vehicle records. Although Hannath initially denied any involvement, claiming the incident had "nothing to do with him," he later pleaded guilty to the burglary at Hull Crown Court. The court heard that the damage to the cash machine was estimated at ยฃ2,370.
