Police investigate attempted burglary in Smallthorne

According to an article published by Stokesentinel on 4 February 2026, Staffordshire Police are investigating a burglary that occurred at a fish and chip shop on Ford Green Road in Smallthorne. The incident took place at approximately 3:15 a.m. on 3 February.

Stokesentinel reports that a man smashed the glass of the front door to gain entry to the premises. Although the suspect caused damage to a till and a plastic screen inside the shop, nothing was reported stolen. The individual was observed wearing a black hoody and cargo-style trousers before being seen walking down an alleyway adjacent to the building.

Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage and conducting local inquiries. Authorities have issued an appeal for witnesses or anyone possessing relevant dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV footage to come forward. Information can be provided by calling 101 and quoting incident number 61 of 3 February.

Business owners are encouraged to ensure that all entry points are reinforced and that high-quality security cameras are installed to deter unauthorized access.
